MIDDLE RIVER, MD – July 5, 2025 — On Saturday evening, Marine Emergency Team 26 proudly assisted Marine Emergency Team 21, the Baltimore County Police Department, and the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) in ensuring a safe and successful Middle River Fireworks celebration.

A longstanding tradition, the Middle River Fireworks have become a beloved summer event for residents of Middle River and Eastern Baltimore County. Each year, the show draws thousands of spectators—by land and by water—from across the Upper Chesapeake Bay.

MET26 deployed MU268, staffed with a three-person crew, to patrol and secure the marine fallout zone. Their responsibilities included keeping boaters at a safe distance and remaining on standby to respond to any emergency situations before, during, and after the fireworks display.

Shortly after the grand finale, MU268 was responded to the area of Jones Creek for a report of a pier fire. Upon arrival, MET26 discovered a 6x8 metal barge, used earlier for a private fireworks display, with several spent boxes that had previously caught fire. The fire was extinguished upon arrival, and no injuries or further damage were reported.

Marine Emergency Team 26 remains committed to protecting our community on the water and is honored to support events that bring us together safely.
