MET 26 Responds To Anne Arundel County

PASADENA, MD, May 3, 2025- On Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 3:00 pm, Marine Emergency Team 26 responded as mutual aid into Pasadena, Anne Arundel County for a reported drowning. Initial reports advised that a 6-year-old was last seen near a pier in the area of Bay Dr, Pasadena. While responding, Marine Unit 269 received updated reports that it was a 16-year-old, and they went under and never resurfaced.
Upon arrival, Marine Unit 269, along with AACo boat 23, used side scan sonar to in the area where the teenager went missing. The water was about 12- 15 feet deep with surface temperatures around 66°F.
Using some of the signatures from sonar and a point last scene marker, divers were deployed. After about 20 minutes in the water, the diver was able to recover the victim, and we assisted with backboarding. Advanced life support techniques were established, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
Update Monday, May 5, 2025. The victim of the drowning succumbed to his injuries.
